Monchique: Algarve isn't just beach

This year, for my father's birthday, we decided to spend the day in Serra de Monchique.

We left home a little before lunch and before we go to the restaurant, we made a quick stop in Caldas de Monchique, a small village where is located the Villa Thermal, a 4-stars resort and the only thermal spa in the south of Portugal, and the factory where the waters of Monchique are bottled.

The restaurant chosen for this special day was Luar da Foia, which proved be a pleasant surprise and a great choice. We all chose the same dish: grilled black pork tenderloin with sweet potato fries. Delicious! The service was also excellent and the view of the terrace was stunning.

After this fantastic lunch we decided to go up to Foia, the highest point in the Algarve, where is located a viewpoint and we took the opportunity to take some photos.

The homecoming was made by a longer but pleasant way: by the hills to Aljezur. It is worth to get to know this part of the Algarve, no beach, no mess, but very quiet.
