MEO Sudoeste 2016

This year I went for the second time at MEO Sudoeste, in Zambujeira do Mar, Odemira.

It wasn't on my plans camping on the ground not even drive 100 km in 5 days, so I decided to go to the festival, that celebrated its 10th edition, only two days.

On the first day (third of the festival), I saw the shows of C4 Pedro, Seu Jorge, Damian Marley and Kura. I already have seen C4 Pedro and Kura, the rest of them, I saw for the first time.

I had a big expectation for Seu Jorge's show. Despite it didn't disappointed me, it wasn't the best of the night. That place fited to Damian Marley, who surprised me a lot although it isn't my favourite type of music. The jamaican artist gave a great show, with a lot of energy, transmitting happiness in all of his songs.

On Moche Room stage, with trusteeship of Orelha Negra, who I liked the most was Profjam, whom showed to who still doubts that what it's made in Portugal in a musical level – in this case, hip hop – it's good too (and it is recommended!).

The fourth day of the festival counted with names like NBC, Diogo Piçarra, James Morrison, Sia, Steve Aoki, Landrik or Von di Carlo. The first one, opening the MEO stage was Diogo Piçarra, who performed last year on a secondary stage. In my opinion, this was the best show of the artist. There where many guests (some) already usual: Isaura, RealPunch and Karetus.

James Morrison was what it was expected: a quiet but captivating concert, not disappointing thoso who wanted to see him (like me).

Then, Sia. Sia... What to say about the australian artist's show? From the other world! For me, it was the best of Sudoeste! With Sia everything is thought to detail. Although the artist doesn't notice very much on stage – like we know, Sia always shows up with her face covered and the focus of her performance isn't herself – her voice is melody, the dancers and the coreographies are what we can call perfects.

The festival have been improving in terms of space – I consider one of the best festival grounds in Portugal – and it's becoming "greener": this year the disposable plastic cups were replaced by refillable cups. The ferris wheel, like what it happens in other festivals, was always full and the visitors, namely the campers, didn't miss the opportunity to visit the village of Zambujeira do Mar and its wonderful beaches.
